THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU
The website provides timely and informative links and tools for consumers about local and regional businesses, scam advisories and advertising veracity appraisals.  There are also links to legal and regulatory bodies that can help process complaints and a complete listing of Better Business Bureau contact information in the United States and Canada.

CALIFORNIA PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION
The CPUC protects consumers and ensures the provision of safe, reliable utility service and infrastructure at reasonable rates while committed to environmental conservation.  The Commission regulates utility services in the state and its website provides abundant information on the CPUC’s initiatives and its impact on consumer welfare.

CENTER FOR AUTO SAFETY
Consumers Union and Ralph Nader founded the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) in 1970 to provide consumers a voice for auto safety and quality in Washington and to help lemon owners fight back across the country. The website has a lot of timely and useful tips for consumers on specific auto defects, defect investigations, recalls, lawsuits in products and more.

CONSUMER ACTION
Consumer Action empowers underrepresented consumers nationwide to assert their rights in the marketplace and financially prosper. The site contains helpful links and resources for consumers nationwide.

CONSUMER FEDERATION OF AMERICA
The Consumer Federation of America (CFA) is an association of non-profit consumer organizations that was established in 1968 to advance the consumer interest through research, advocacy, and education.  The website provides useful tips on how to avoid consumer fraud, a good summary of timely issues and resources for victims of consumer fraud or product defects.

CONSUMER.GOV
This is a comprehensive portal of information on federal laws and regulations affecting consumers.

CONSUMERS UNION
Consumers Union (CU) is an expert, independent, nonprofit organization whose mission is to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace for all consumers and to empower consumers to protect themselves.  CU publishes Consumer Reports and ConsumerReports.org. Site contains helpful links and tools for consumers.

FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION
The Federal Communications Commission regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories.  The site provides helpful tools for consumers who want to know more about their rights as they relate to relationships with the carriers of these services.

KIDS IN DANGER
Kids In Danger (KID) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting children by improving children’s product safety. KID was founded in 1998 by the parents of sixteen-month-old Danny Keysar who died in his Chicago childcare home when a portable crib collapsed around his neck.  The website provides a large database of reported hazards for infants and children.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CONSUMER ADVOCATES
National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) is a non-profit association of attorneys and consumer advocates committed to representing customers’ interests. Site contains helpful links and information on legislative initiatives to benefit consumers.

NATIONAL CONSUMER LAW CENTER
Since 1969, the non-profit National Consumer Law Center has used its expertise in consumer law and energy policy to work for consumer justice and economic security for low-income and other disadvantaged people in the United States.   The site offers a database of resources and additional information about the organizations and its causes.

NATIONAL CONSUMERS LEAGUE
The National Consumers League is America’s oldest consumer organization, representing consumers and workers on marketplace and workplace issues since our founding in 1899. NCL provides government, businesses, and other organizations with the consumer’s perspective on concerns including child labor, privacy, food safety, and medication information. NCL is home to the LifeSmarts program, Child Labor Coalition, NCL’s Fraud Center, and SOS Rx Coalition.

NATIONAL FRAUD INFORMATION CENTER
A comprehensive database of the most current information on a myriad of different fraud types and claims.  The website also provides information on the Center’s toll-free Consumer Assistance Service, to help consumers with questions about telephone or mail solicitations, reporting fraud, referral services, and where to get help filing complaints.

THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION
The website provides extensive information about the current highway rules and regulations and consumer rights around vehicular safety, including timely listings of product recalls and defects involving automobiles and auto-related accessories.

PUBLIC CITIZEN
Public Citizen serves as the people’s voice in the nation’s capital. Since its inception in 1971, the organization has worked to ensure that all citizens are represented in the halls of power.  The site offers insights into the different areas of work that they do, a staff directory and sponsorship information.

U.S. CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION
The CPSC is a federal commission tasked with with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death associated with the use of consumer products under the agency’s jurisdiction.  The site offers helpful links to key contacts, legislative updates, product recalls and other useful tips for consumers.

U.S. PUBLIC INTEREST RESEARCH GROUP
U.S. PIRG is a consumer group that stands up to powerful interests whenever they threaten the health and safety, financial security, or the rights of individuals to fully participate in democratic society. The site contains an overview of the agency’s mission and activities as well as a list of issues and ways to get involved.
